4 Ways to Regulate Blood Sugar Levels – Naturally

Categories: Lifestyle

As we have all recently heard, prediabetes and Type 2 late onset diabetes are real concerns that we should be aware of and start healthy habits now. The upside to being able to control your blood sugar levels naturally is that you avoid dependence on medication and any unwanted side effects that may come with that.   But how do you control blood sugar levels?  Well, here are 4 things you can do to stabilize blood sugar levels and stay on the right track whether you have already been diagnosed or if you would just like to watch out for your health in the future.

1. Cut Down on Simple Carbs

It is true that carbs are your body’s main source of energy; however, simple carbohydrates, including sugar and refined and bleached flour, cause both insulin resistance and spikes in insulin leading to varying energy levels related to blood sugar rising and crashing.  This is bad news.  Carbohydrates are converted into sugar or glucose; when too much glucose is in the blood, the body produces excess insulin and stores the glucose as fat.   Replace simple carbohydrates with fresh fruits, vegetables, nuts and whole grains to keep from crashing and having all these irregularities.

2. Reduce Stress

While easier said than done, removing stress is vital to sound health and wellness.  Stress is known as a silent killer, often contributing to dangerous weight gain, heart disease, and diabetes.  As stress levels increase, the body releases excess levels of hormones.  These hormones interfere with the natural, healthy production of hormones, often leading to problems with metabolism and the ability to burn fat and excess calories – leading to increased blood sugar levels and weight gain. Regular and appropriate rest, engaging in a regular and taxing exercise program, meditation and a diet of healthy, natural foods are recommended for managing stress and anxiety.

3. Increase Activity

Exercise is one of the most effective ways to remove sugar from the blood and to balance insulin levels.  While any form of exercise is beneficial, high intensity exercise programs have been shown to be most effective in regulating blood sugar levels.

4. Improve your Digestive System

The digestive system is the first line of defense against weight gain and poor health.  Avoiding simple carbohydrates, gluten and processed foods allow the digestive system to become more efficient and effective in breaking down foods.  Ensuring a healthy level of probiotics, the good bacteria, is also essential for gut health.  Supplementing with a high quality probiotic will help ensure the recommended 9:1 good to bad bacteria level in your digestive system.

All of these elements together will help keep glucose levels in check and keep you staying healthy! So hang in there, make gradual changes and gather support from friends and family as you travel the path to wellness.  Thanks for stopping by!  Don’t forget to like us on Facebook for special deals every month.

All the points of the article are commendable, the one that is most difficult is No. 3 ! If anyone is really concerned about what the Federal government is aggravating the citizens about, makes the citizens vulnerable to stress. When you have seen the destruction, of what was a Republic, in the last 5 years, it makes you wonder what’s next. I am total agreement with stress will and can cause detrimental major illnesses in the physical body although I’ve been fortunate enough to survive after 40 yrs. in the medical field.
